Continuing my Dead Zone frenzy, the one and only John Smith (Anthony Michael Hall). I still have a lot of shading to do but decided to post just the line work for now.

Taking those intuos into The Dead Zone

I have just finished watching The Dead Zone, the entire TV series, and enjoyed it a lot.
Since I was already playing around with my Intuos, 2 and 4, I decided to give it a try with those characters while experimenting with krita, the KDE painting app. I'm still trying to figure ot how to work efficiently with krita since I've been an avid Gimp user for years. It seems to be worth the hassle as krita has its focus on ilustration and painting while Gimp in image retouching. It seems I can do a lot of stuff mixing them up.

Intuos 2, Frustrado still frustrated

Still trying to make peace with my intuos 4. I do not know why but my trusty old intuos 2 seems a lot more confortable and responds a lot better then her younger sister. I did this sketch just for the sake of practice.

Getting a little grip with my intuos: Philip K. Dick

After years of having bought my first tablet, a Wacom Intuos 2, I'm finally losing he dread and gaining a little confidence, as well as a decent grip, on the damn tool.

This is a roughly done sketch of the sci-fi author Philip K. Dick. Even though my knowledge of his works is quite limited, a fact that I'm plaining to retify soon, I loved everything I read from him as well as a few adaptations of his novels into movies. Just to name a few: "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" (Blade Runner), Minority Report (Minority Report), Second Variety (Screammers) and The Impostor (The Impostor).

The Sarah Connor Chronicles

I've watched "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" about 3-4 times from start to finish and still haven't passed the exitement of watching Lena Headey playing Sarah Connor. She is way different from Linda Hamilton, so a initial disconfort was expected, but I believe that it is exactly why she works so well. Hamilton played Connor as a air head teenager and later as a action lead. Both caracterizations would get tiring after a few episodes. Headey did it differently: as a mother who was more prepared to fight the end of the world than to really grasp the basics of parenting. And all this while still being strong and sexy. You gotta love that.

I grew tired of that piece I did in 2008 so I decided to make a more recent, and hopefully more polished, self-portrait. It is still a long way from a good self-portrait but at least it does not bother me with all those marker lines. Bush, media ink on A4 layout paper.

I've been trying to play with diferent shading techniques over the past couple of months so I decided to rework this sketch using markers.

This one has been in the works for a few weeks. I did the last of the hatching during the 1st day of this year over breakfeast and decided to call the quits. I was getting to the point where, even though the piece was far from finished, every line I was making was just screwing up the piece. Maybe some day, and probably that day will never come,I'll continue to work in it ...

Elizabeth - Pen

Since I've begun inking over scanned and blue printed pencil work, a couple months back, I've been playing around experimenting different solutions for the same images. In this piece I've inked the Elizabeth sketch, a couple posts back, using only a .3 tech pen.

I think all that SIP (Strangers in Paradise) reading has left me with some side effects. I can detect some Terry Moore's influences in a few lines.

I've been in weird mood lately and decided to listen to some music clips on youtube. By chance, I've found a band that inspired me to sketch again: halestorm. This is the first of a few sketches I'm doing of the band.

The couple in this sketch are the parents of the baby boy I drew a couple months back, Vincent. David was my boss at LACTEC and I'm looking forward to be able to work with him again.

Last week tombs sent me an early birthday present: a few pictures of Amber. I took the opportunity to make another sketch of her.

I've never been good, or even badly competent, in painting, but from time to time I still try some experiments. These one I tried to do when Amber was born, a few years ago. Never actually posted before 'cause my old, trusty, HP SCSI scanjet 4C broke down and I did not have a decent scanner. That and the fact that I suck at painting.

I've actually never watched the show, since I no longer have cable TV, but after finding out Forest Whitaker would star in the Criminal Minds spin-off I just had to google and find some good ref pics.

This one was lost in a pile somewhere in my apartment. I found it in a time in which the subject was a source of sorrow to me but I just had to ink it.

Vincent

Every time I went for coffee the picture of Vincent, my boss's son, was there, staring at me. It was just David's wallpaper but it bugged me enough so that I did this sketch. I hope the boss likes it.
